Cost of Psychotherapy Sessions
I offer a free 30 minute initial session to new clients. Following that, our sessions will run for 50-55 minutes, and my fee is $250 per session. Please provide payment before or at the beginning of our session. I accept PayPal (max@maxcounseling.com), Venmo (@maxcounseling), cash, personal checks, and Bitcoin.
Online Therapy Sessions
The fee for online sessions is the same as for in-person sessions.
Insurance
Like many psychotherapists and medical professionals, I have chosen to not contract with health insurance plans. This is due to the bureaucratic challenges that come along with such contracts, not the least of which are limits to clients' confidentiality. That said, your insurance company (Regence, Premera, Aetna, First Choice, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, and others) will likely reimburse a significant portion of the cost of psychotherapy sessions with me. I will be happy to provide you with invoices ("superbills") to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement, and you are welcome to ask me any questions about this process.

Cancellation
Things come up, and occasionally you may need to cancel a scheduled appointment. In this case, please give me at least a 48-hour notice; otherwise you will be responsible for the fee for the missed appointment.
